Proven leadershipNow serving in her 10th year as a City Commissioner, Rosalynn Bliss has developed a deep knowledge of how individuals and organizations interact with the City. She has learned how to build consensus among citizens striving to improve different aspects of Grand Rapids.  She is responsive to constituents, making certain that City government lives up to its responsibility of service. Her experience includes serving on the city’s legislative team, the county’s solid waste commission, chairing the city’s fiscal committee, working with many business improvement districts, and the city’s public safety committee – just to name a few. Since 2006, Commissioner Bliss has served as the Director of Residential Services at D.A. Blodgett-St. John’s.  Since 2006, she has also served as an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Grand Valley State University.  Commissioner Bliss earned her Masters of Social Work Degree with an emphasis on clinical practice and administration from Michigan State University in 2000.
